A human ability to imagine a reality that isn’t here yet. 

With a little help from our prefontal cortex, which technically allows us to imagine what is not yet in front of us. We temporarily escape from what appears as reality. Well, in this #quarantine, I have certainly tried to escape from a few things many times over. On the list I have some of my dark thoughts and fears as a #startup founder to some real harsh realities, like my mom having the virus. 

So I asked myself, can I reconnect to this creative human ability now? How do I raise above my human instincts that judge inputs and reality so fast, perhaps in order to protect me; but how do I escape? 

How to raise above fear, like most health care practitioners heroically do everyday? 

How to be creative when a crisis like #COVID-19 strikes? 

Well, we sure are full of opinions of what this reality means; for us, for countries, for industries. No shortage of realities are already painted by media, experts and those who seem to have it all figured out.

But do they? Or are we just trying to cope with collective anxiety? Have we become creatively lazy? 

Well, I ponder. Pause. 

Wondering if it isn’t it always easier be a critic than a creator?

What to do with so much strange incoming input? Are any of those final answers or defining ones? Or are we all just looking for an end to this current reality? Or ready to take the path of least resistance? Could we be deeply scared to let this new input connect to something we already have inside of us? Something that we already knew really mattered. #climatechange #health #humanrights #family #ethics

So, I daily remind myself that any experience, any input, no matter how harsh or strange they might be, is an opportunity.

Another raw, amazing, and yet again new opportunity. New chance to create. New material for creation. 

So as the world seems to be bending, breaking, bleeding, blending. And it seems so insanely real. Happening right around you. Really close, right?

Is that why you fear? Why I fear? Why was I stuck thinking “ well I am just not the creative type” or “the heroic type”. 

Well, here is the news. Being creative is part of being a human. Especially in these weird times. So here is to finding it. Finding your human. Even if it's work in progress status. Here is to celebrating this potential we all have. Here is to being less of a critic. Here is to becoming whatever type we will embrace this opportunity to let us be.
