CreativeMornings HK is 10 years, time to celebrate and reflect

This month our CreativeMornings Hong Kong community is celebrating its 10-year anniversary, and I am celebrating my 3-year anniversary as host of this amazing community. My aim is to facilitate Connection, Collaboration and Inspiration.

There is so much energy, love and creativity in this community that putting time and effort into organizing monthly free events is a decision that comes easily and with a lot of joy.

When I started, we struggled with Covid and the limitations it put on us. People were not looking forward to another ZOOM meeting and at the same time, our community saw lots of members moving out of Hong Kong. So the first year was all about surviving by creating consistency. No matter what hurdle or limitation, we made sure there was an event every month and communicated to the community that we are back.

During my second year, the goal I set for myself was to grow the community which we did. We went from 25 members joining our events to regularly welcoming 70 and even 90 community members during more recent events. It was great to see new people joining and long-time members finding their way back.

Currently, I am working on sharing the workload with my fellow CMHK volunteers and building an efficient running team. Even on this small scale with 10 of us, I recognize challenges and pain points which offers a way to improve my leadership skills and communication style. It's amazing to see what we're capable of if the collaboration works well, even if we only have a couple of hours per week to spend.

The CreativeMornings Festival

The 10-year anniversary is a big celebration of a community that is looking to Connect, Collaborate and Inspire and I am proud to be on the organising team with some amazing women.

We have 5 speakers, 17 workshops, a co-creating artwork, a marketplace, an auction, networking possibilities and we finish with a great DJ throwing a party while we drink quality drinks for below-market prices. You can be sure that we design experiences and gifts to make it a day to remember!
