A Creative Process That Will Fuck With Your Team

Step 1: Start writing an article because you felt inspired by a YouTube video from Brené Brown.

Step 2: Get distracted by the mess in the living room. Decide that now is the best time in the world for deep cleaning that wine stain in the corner.

Step 3: Watch more Brené Brown videos on YouTube.

Step 4: Order something on Amazon because Instagram's ads reminded you that you wanted a new bar set for your kitchen.

Step 5: Return to writing your article, but first name your Google Document and share it with your entire team so that they can see you've started getting your work done.

Step 6: Send out a series of messages on slack to people on your team that are working on other things. Ask them what your article should be about.

Step 7: Send out a series of text messages to close friends and ask for their input.

Step 8: Continue writing your article.

Step 9: Stop what you're doing because you have a new delivery on the porch from Amazon. How does Instagram always know what you need?

Step 10: Finish writing your article and send it out to the entire company asking if anyone has any feedback. Text everyone a few encouraging GIFs for good measure.

Step 11: Spend four hours picking out the perfect photo for your article. Conveniently forget to ask your creative team for input or help. You're already 10 days behind schedule (according to your content marketing plan) and you know that they have a million other projects to do.

Step 12: Post your article without proofreading it.

Step 13: Proofread your article. Realize that it isn't an article...just a list. Decide that you hate everything about it. Ignore your typos. Give up on writing forever.

Step 14: Post your article and go on a celebratory walk!

at first I was like "I feel personally attacked" and then I was like "who wrote this" and then I was like "I'm in danger" thanks Tim.

Have you tapped into the wizardry that is behind the curtain of Instagram and Amazon, reading my mind and tracking my every thought and move? Well your article sure sounds like it! Well done. And yes, let's celebrate you for getting it done! ???? ??
