Creative problem solving with SolidWorks
How did we save thousands of dollars and reduce the project length by a month or two?
Our unique creative problem-solving process (that will be another post one day) has resulted in the cantilever design below. With the help of SolidWorks, we simulated the loads and eliminated the need to excavate and pour concrete, reducing the project length and cost.
This design will mount under the structure and will be fastened into the existing concrete with some other mounts to the base (not shown). The SolidWorks weldment feature is just impressive. Change any dimension in minutes or replace the structural member with a few clicks.
This design is still in progress, and you may see the few things I missed. However, I wanted to share and show the quality of SolidWorks and Visualize. It's a blast to wow our customers with a quality rendering, especially since the only information we had to start this project was a 20-minute walk around the site with a short discussion of must have's.
If your an engineer, what do you think about the sim results?
That is what makes Macy Industries in Hooksett NH so unique. High tech in the front office and extremely talented fabricators on the floor who can work from hand sketches or often a simple discussion. Participating in this blended skillset makes each project fun and exciting, I continue to learn new things every day.
