START RUNNING WITH YOUR EYES CLOSED AND YOUR EARS OPEN.
Enough!
When is it ever enough?
When you have a goal that’s right in front of you, it's exciting to start the journey to get there. Oh, the thrill! of the prospects, possibilities, and even the all-expected results.
But then, you’re 2 months into that story and things start to slow down. You begin to write less, record less, post less and think less. You begin to use phrases like;
“I just haven’t been motivated lately”
“I don’t have any ideas anymore”
“it’s just not working out”
Or
“I’m not getting the desired feedback”
And while you openly admit and express these things, you fail to see what’s right in front of you.
You are running with your eyes open and your ears closed.
What exactly do I mean by that?
Think of a runner in a race. With strength, vigor, and endurance, he pushes against the wind and unto the finish line. It is only when he has crossed the finish line he notices the excitement bubbling around him. It is only then he hears the cheers, tributes, and accolades allotted to him.
After the race.
That particular field may not be so foreign to the runner as he may have practiced in or around it multiple times before. In some cases, the runner can see the finish line before the race even begins and can estimate the time, speed, and effort he may need to get there.
That estimate is stored in his mind as he runs. That picture is his vision.
Just to be on the same page, I’d like you to answer some questions.

1.??????If the runner is on the track, and he sees about 5 other runners far ahead of him, how likely is he to get discouraged? Especially if the race is about to end?
2.??????In the same vein, if one or 2 runners fall in front or beside him, how likely is he to get distracted, turn around, or get shaken up for a split second?
Another set of questions
1.??????Now, If, haven stored the length of the finished line, and mastered the tracks, the runner is given the opportunity to run with his eyes closed, would he be more inclined to the sounds around him?
2.??????How likely will it be for him to be distracted by what he sees?
3.??????And even if someone besides him falls, would he maybe take the wails as that of another cheer?
The concept of running with eyes closed is a simple metaphor to apply to that of achieving goals and achieving more. It is taking away your energy from what you see and laying that all up in what you hear, or rather what you’ve heard.
This concept utilizes your inner eyes for storage and your inner ears for confirmation. Your ears receive the words that put you on that path you are pursuing. The inner eyes capture the vision and stamp it on your heart. The ears carry the rhythm that brings it all alive. The pictures you have taken and see with your inner eyes carry you to the end, the ears ensure you are fueled to get there.
When next you have a goal, a plan, a dream, or a task, take a long stare at the end so it is inscribed in your heart. Activate your ears and experience the surreal present! You wouldn’t know if you’re behind a thousand people or one. All your energy will be in what you’re hearing (we shall visit being fed by your senses another time).
SO, if you must, start running with your eyes closed. Stay away from what you see and utilize the picture that was captured with your inner eyes. Focus on THAT! Listen to the voices that fueled your passion, your drive, and your decisions to pursue. Actively engage those voices by hearing them over and over again. Keep your ears open, and your eyes shut. And then when you finally cross that line, open your eyes to embrace the standing ovation. ?
Ready!
Steady!
CLOSE!
