Creative Malt Vol. 3
It's going to be hard to beat the last edition's AI pasta-eating Will Smith and Brlo's genius parody of Calvin Klein's campaign with the hunky Jeremy Allen White, but we are confident we've found a few more gems. Let's dive straight in.
A Very British Safety Video from British Airways
While flying out to a job in San Francisco, our crew came across this little beauty. Fast-paced, beautifully shot, and peppered with some magical moments of British humour, the flight safety video delivered all the essential safety information while showcasing everyday British life at its best. From the local chippy to a fine dining restaurant, from Dr. Who to a world-recognized CEO, the visuals and talent within the film are something you would expect to see scrolling down Visit Britain’s Insta account. This film was a great way to start an 11-hour flight; it was the perfect way to set the tone of the journey and service to come.
We also loved the message from Air New Zealand on the BA YouTube challenge. Nice guerrilla marketing there, haoi ;)
" Stussy, Inc. x Nike ” Collaboration - Weird Right?
If you don't know Marc Sidelsky, check him out. A writer, a director, and what looks to be a performer too. He created this clever fashion ad for the Stüssy and Nike collection. What makes this film genius is that you don't realise that you are subtly being sold to; you see all the ranges of clothes they have created together; however, the narrative and shots don't make it feel salesy. Instead, it immerses the viewer into the story - WEIRD RIGHT ;)
Shōgun 华特迪士尼公司
While its opening title sequence from Elastic caught our attention, this period drama from Disney Plus is definitely one to add to your watchlist. Described as Pocahontas meets Game of Thrones, and then the visuals alone are worth your attention.
Wonky Willy in #Glasgow
We have all seen the pictures of a grey warehouse with a sorrowful-looking rainbow and the story of children being given one jelly bean after their parents paid £35 to gain entry to what they thought was going to be a magic Willy Wonda Wonderland.
Why did they have this expectation? Well, the event organiser, a self-confessed AI wiz, sold the event using beautiful AI imagery. BUT the reality was something very different. We have all seen the pictures...
But can you believe it? The event is still open, and people are still paying to see it. Bad press is still press at the end of the day, and in this instance, it looks like the event organisers are very happy to capitalise on it.
A Love Letter to Nolan
Wow, this film is amazing. Rich in detail, with insane edits and transitions, it perfectly gives the viewer an insight into Holan's genius storytelling ability. Imagine what he would do if he took up the 00 franchise.
rabbit inc. R1
If you remember us talking about the launch of the AI gadget from Rabbit, if you don't, no problem; you can read last month's volume here. Well, the product WAS available for sale at $199 but has since sold out. We still think this is a product and platform to keep an eye on.
dentsu Visible Voices - Neurodiversity
Neurodiversity is something 1 in 4 of us have. That number is even higher in the creative industry - WHY? Because neurologically diverse brains are wired to process loads of information into concise summaries that allow us to make decisions. To the ‘normal’ world, this skill is very useful to look at problems in a new way or get to the bones of a problem quickly.
During a recent production for Dentsu’s Visible Voices, we made a film about Oscar and his Mum and how they live with dyslexia. Unprompted, the young child spoke to the camera saying, ‘I am Dyslexic and I am proud to be Dyslexic. And if you’re dyslexic you should too.’ When we showed this to our MD Paddy O’Sullivan, he commented back with the following: ‘As a 40-year-old man who has struggled and triumphed with his Dyslexia, these words brought me WAY back to my younger self. To have heard those words then would have been as powerful as hearing them now. He is a true inspiration’.
AI: The Biggest Art Heist in History
This is a really interesting documentary that poses the question: how is AI allowed to get away with stealing style? Artists spend months if not years perfecting their creations, and in a single upload to the internet, this style is broken down to an algorithm and then banked to serve millions of users to use it for free, all with no credit or redemption to the original artists.
So there you have it, folks – another whirlwind journey through the world of creativity. Until next time!
