The Creative Life
Working with so many companies over the past few years has taught me a lot of things. 7 years ago I could never have imagined that I would be helping build brands. I admit, when I first started doing designs it was for fun. I started putting my work out there and it got a lot of attention, till a lot of people reached out to me and wanted me to do some work for them. I started freelancing from there and then started my own creative business 4 years ago. A lot of us creative talents are underestimated to be fair, under priced for our value and most of the time considered as not that important for businesses. It is only after I started working with these brands that they saw how valuable people like me really are. We don't only help with how the face of your brand looks like but we build the very foundation and core values your brand stands for. That first interaction that happens between you and your customers, the first impression, the reputation and most importantly the emotional connection your audience feels. The trust and brand loyalty we all crave and aim towards. Imagine if Apple had bad design or a really bad branding, their ads and videos looked horrible, their package and product design felt awkward and not up to quality. Let's not forget their value and messaging that is part of the branding, "To challenge the status quo" - Apple. Do you think they will be as successful as they are today?
For us designers and creative talents we always feel like we have to prove our worth and keep yelling how we can help. That is why most of us stopped yelling and now just showcase the way we are changing the future. I mean take a look for yourself now, with covid, how many businesses have suffered, still suffering and many more will suffer. I predicted it 3 years ago, no not covid, but predicted that if your business is not online and you don't have good constant branding? the path will be very difficult for you. I'll say take a look at your business now, where is it currently and where would you want it to be? What values do you want to stand for? And why does your business exist? Find your why! (making money isn't a why it is a result)
The creative life can be hard but you feel very appreciative. When you really give it your all on your craft you find it very rewarding. You are limitless and free and you can do anything your mind desires. There are times, not everything may seem colourful but that is normal, we just have to find a way to overcome it. All those late nights working because we love what we do. Those nights when things are uncertain and running out of that creative juice so you have to go and find some inspiration. Oh I love that search. You learn so much about yourself. Constantly learning new things everyday. I do admit the road leads to the unknown but that is what makes it exciting. You feel unstoppable and most importantly you are in control. It is an adventure I will not forget.
