A creative leap ...

It's rare enough that an idea makes it intact from the originating thought through to the final version. But that's pretty much what happened with "Because", a new multi-platform campaign that aims to showcase television and radio content that's produced thanks to funding from the licence fee, and which launched today.

Developed in-house by me and the small central marketing team in RTé, "Because" will ultimately feature dozens of spots, each one driving that sense of real-world connection between the licence fee and the content we see and hear. Low-cost and high-volume, the campaign aims to be intriguing, compelling, and highly flexible.

We start this week with four spots for television and radio. New spots will launch each month into 2018, giving exceptional scope and span to the campaign as it evolves to showcase new and fresh content.

TELEVISION Four TV promos kick-start the campaign in October. Each one acts like a door briefly opening on a world, a story, a moment ...

RADIO The radio promos bring a special focus to the audience's audio experience.
