Creative Day For Social Good: Empowering Non-Profits through Creative Collaboration

In an ever-evolving non-profit sector, the ability to adapt and innovate is crucial, especially for organizations striving to make a difference. At Creative Day For Social Good (CD4SG), we believe in the power of creativity, leadership, and collaboration to drive impactful change. This annual event, held in partnership with Conestoga College and industry partners, including Intertek Catalyst and HIM&HER, produces exceptional marketing materials for non-profits, enabling them to reach their strategic goals.

The Impact of CD4SG

Each year, CD4SG delivers substantial value to the non-profit community:

  • Pro-bono Work Valued at $100,000: Our collaborative efforts result in high-quality deliverables that would otherwise require significant financial investment.
  • Supporting 10 Organizations: We carefully select non-profits that can benefit the most from our services, ensuring that our impact is both meaningful and far-reaching.
  • Creating Opportunities for 100 Students: By involving Conestoga College students, we are helping them in enhancing their skills, letting their talent shine and preparing them for future careers.

The Event

This year, CD4SG will be held in person on October 10th and 11th in the Community Room at Google’s offices in Kitchener, Ontario. We are thrilled to return to an in-person format, fostering even greater collaboration and creativity.

Capacity Canada, in partnership with Intertek Catalyst , Conestoga College , Him & Her Inc. , 谷歌 , and the creative community, will donate design and marketing work to non-profit organizations across Canada. This initiative brings together teams of art directors, writers, account managers, and other creative professionals who volunteer their time to mentor and guide talented design and public relations students from Conestoga College.

Last Year's Success

The response to last year’s event was overwhelming, with over 100 applications from non-profits across Canada vying for just 10 spots. The creative services provided during the event amounted to more than $100,000 of pro bono work, significantly aiding these organizations in enhancing their social impact. Examples of the remarkable student work from the 2023 CD4SG can be found here.

Focus for 2024

This year, we are concentrating on two key elements that the non-profit sector can benefit from after a challenging few years:

  1. Branding: We will assist with visual identity, logo creation or revision, and developing brand guidelines to help organizations present themselves more effectively.
  2. Public Awareness/Marketing Campaign/Fundraising Campaign Support: Our teams will provide social media strategies and content, fundraising materials, video storyboards, appeal letters, and a case for support to enhance the organizations' outreach and fundraising efforts.
