Creative Containers
To build a successful fairy garden you are going to need something to put it in first! My favorite gardens are the ones made in containers you would never think to use. From old benches and rocking chairs to wheelbarrows and wagons the options are endless. There are only a few simple requirements for a fairy garden container: it has to be able to hold a couple inches of soil and if live plants are being used, there has to be a way for the water to drain out. If the item doesn’t already have a way to drain, just grab a drill and make about a half dozen holes depending on the size of the container. If you are putting your container outside, one thing to watch out for is the container decaying. It is always a good idea to put a sealant on your container to prevent damage from rain and other elements. Some people even put a tarp on the inside of their fairy garden container to keep it dry during watering. Doing this will certainly extend the life or your garden. If you take a quick look around your house I’m sure you can find a bunch of things that would be perfect to use as a home for your fairies. I’ve seen old suitcases be re-purposed into perfect fairy villages. Tool boxes and baskets make great containers as well! A unique container can give your garden the extra flair others are lacking. A unique landscape can be as easy as piling up a few extra logs in the backyard. Place some soil on top and around the logs and begin creating your magical scene. If your house is fresh out of intriguing containers have no fear, Wholesale Fairy Gardens has you covered! We offer a variety of containers and planters including stackable box sets, wire planters, and smaller accessory planters. Hopefully this helped get the ideas flowing. Go grab something “out-of-the-box” and build an awesome magical land. Happy Gardening!
