CREATIVE BRIEFS #24

Welcome to the end-of-the-year edition of CREATIVE BRIEFS, a list of links, news, and resources related to three of my favorite things: design, photography, and art. My hope is you will find something that inspires you and maybe helps you create something new, in whatever medium(s) you prefer.

If your year was anything like mine, 2018 will be remembered for all its ups, downs, and all-arounds, creative and otherwise. As its Sr. Manager, Creative Services, I oversaw the rebranding of Machinima (a division of Warner Bros. Digital Networks) as well as designed environmental graphics and videos for several high-profile events, including our NYC Sales Presentation, E3 Party in Downtown LA, and presence at Big Adventure Festival in Costa Mesa, CA. I also picked up my camera again, covering a few of these events as well as restarting some personal projects. Looking back, the theme of the year seemed to be change and reinvention. And 2019 is shaping up to continue that theme, with changes and reinventions planned (and unplanned) in most areas of my life.

I like to spend the final day of the year reflecting back on the good, the bad, and ugly, and planning for the year ahead. I’m excited (and nervous) about some of the changes I see on the horizon, but realize things are always in a state of flux. This quote, from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button screenplay, perfectly captures my internal dialogue today:

“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of.
