The business leaders that I have been talking to seem to have at least one key position that they want to fill with a good candidate. This article by Vistage Worldwide, Inc. is focused on attracting top tech talent, but it is universal need in every industry.
I also see lots of talented professionals in my network moving to new employers at an even faster rate than a year ago.
With Colorado Unemployment rate at 3.5%, it's going to take some more creativity and planning to bring in the right people.
Beyond the suggestions in the article, here are a few ideas:
1) Ask your most recent hire(s) what research they did on your firm before they joined you. What did they like? What did they have to ignore? (Imagine them holding their nose and asking "how bad could it really be?")
2) If a third party or an internal recruiter is doing the sourcing, make sure they understand how a new hire will know what success looks like. "In the first two months, you should expect... and we should expect..."
3) Be ready to move. In the words of my good friend Stephanie Klein , "Time kills all deals." I know lots of qualified candidates who were in talks with an employer and were ghosted or perpetually delayed. My friends, it's time to be decisive.
The linked article also has an invitation to a Vistage Webinar by Gustavo Grodnitzky, Ph.D. (he/him) . His content is always on point, I wouldn't miss that free opportunity either.
