I FOUNDED DynaMed to meet a CRITICAL need for applying CRITICAL APPRAISAL to information used for clinical decision-making in a JUST RIGHT way.

Twenty-some years later DynaMed Plus (the next-generation clinical information resource) is available to more than a million physicians and countless other health care professionals (literally I have never counted the numbers), selected as the evidence-based point-of-care reference of choice by multiple national and professional associations and national governmental agencies supporting whole populations.

CRITICAL APPRAISAL of the information used for clinical decision-making has provided substantial value – we ideally want to know what evidence we can trust, and how well we can trust the best evidence we have – but making that available at the moment of need is what it takes to be JUST RIGHT.

Thinking about CREATION (I wrote at the beginning of the week about FOUNDING something - you don’t truly create something from nothing, you create something from something that others were not recognizing.) I am more and more frequently considering the impact of applying CRITICAL APPRAISAL to information used for clinical decision-making and what happens as the focus shifts from the “information” to the “use for clinical decision-making”.
