Creating A Space To Grow In
You have a lot on your shoulders.
If you’re like most people, you have a long To-Do list at work and another one at home.
New demands on your time and energy (physical and emotional) crop up almost every day.
?
Between work, home, family, friends, health, finances, education, weather, world events and the stress of everyday life you may feel that your needs come last, at the bottom of the list, and only when every other item on your To Do list is accomplished.
?
The problem is that that day – the day you reach the bottom of your To Do list – will never come.
The Right Time To Focus on You
There will never be the perfect time to tune out your busy life and focus on yourself – unless you make the decision to put yourself first.
You can make that decision right now!
You are the first priority in your life. Your needs matter whether you’ve accomplished your daily goals or not.
It’s okay to time for yourself.
It’s essential!
The people who rely on you want you to be your best and healthiest self.
That means making your well-being a daily focus.
Self-Care is the Foundation for Growth
Stepping into any level of self-care is a step forward on your path. You might have practiced self-care for years or it may be totally new.
Never feel bad about prioritizing yourself.
It’s the best thing you can do, and the best way to invest your time – both professionally and as a person.
As you focus on your needs, feelings and changing emotions throughout the day and week, how your body reacts to different situations and people, and what you need to feel calm and centered, you’ll notice that your physical surroundings matter?- a lot.
In some spaces you feel relaxed. In others, you feel tense.
Create a Space to Grow In
So, a great step to take is to create a space around you that supports and facilitates your growth – that is, a comfortable space where you can take a deep breath and decompress.
You'll create your space to grow in at home first.
Here’s how to do it:
Pick a spot in your home to focus on.
Choose a spot in your home to recharge and gather your thoughts.
It might be a corner of a room or a chair by the window. Pick a place where you feel comfortable and can tune out the noise around you and thoughts racing through your mind.
Gradually and with intention, first clear away objects that clutter the space you’ve chosen and arrange the seating, lighting and airflow to make your spot a supportive place.
You’re growing. You need a place to reflect, journal, practice breathing or meditation or just gather yourself apart from the tumult of your active life.
Make It Yours
Once you decide where your special space will be, focus on how to make it as comfortable and supportive a place as possible. Is there a piece of artwork that speaks to you?
Add it to your space. Would a cozy throw blanket or sofa cushion make your space more inviting? Indulge in those things! You deserve a space to unwind.
Creating a space to grow is a simple step that will help you prioritize yourself.
As you focus more attention on your body and mind and consciously tune out the voice in your head saying, “Do something productive!” you’ll come back to yourself, little by little.

Let Your Space Support Your Lifestyle
As you create the space for your growth, you’ll start to notice what works and what doesn’t work in your surroundings. You may move furniture or storage space to make your life easier. That is also part of creating a space to grow in.
If you love to cook with spices but your spice rack is nowhere near your stovetop, rearrange your kitchen to support your love of cooking.
Your space should support how you live and the person you are becoming.
Simplify, Simplify, Simplify
Cleaning out closets to donate or dispose of things you don’t need anymore is a part of arranging your space to support your evolution.
It’s powerful to get rid of stuff you no longer need. It’s a message to yourself and the universe: I am okay without this stuff. I needed it at one time. I don’t need it now.
Arranging your space and your systems at home and at work to simplify your life is an act of self-care and a step into your power.
Feeling Better, Getting Stronger
The more you focus on your peace and your growth, the better you’ll feel. Little by little you’ll stop worrying about your progress on your To Do list, or whether you’re doing enough.
You’ll gradually realize that what you do is more than enough.
You are more than enough.
Whether you’re working right now or not, you are amazing. Whatever your job title, you are worthy.
You have no one to please or impress.
You are on your path. Other people are on their paths. Some of them will resonate at your frequency, and a lot of them won’t. It’s fine. You don’t need everyone in your fan club.
You are perfect right now, and your goal is to step more and more confidently into that knowledge and to act out of it.
