A digital passport for skills is the digital repository that stores and verifies an individual's skills, certifications, and training achievements. This digital credential can then be easily shared with potential employers, clients, or industry peers, providing a transparent and efficient way to demonstrate one's capabilities. The ARISE team are building a skills interface that is harnessing digital transformation to stimulate engagement. inspire demand, provide clear learning interactions, deliver transparency of upskilling transactions and recognition of qualifications achieved. It is revolutionising the learning process by monetising the skills and learning exchange with a system based on recognition and accreditation. Building a cohesive integrated skills exchange fit for purpose.

The ARISE H2020 model will eventually grow to become a comprehensive digital passport for skills, complete with:

  1. Skill Assessment and Validation evidence - a robust assessment framework established to evaluate an individual's skills and knowledge in specific areas, achieved through online quizzes, exams, or project-based evaluations.
  2. Digital Badging and Certification - upon successful completion of training or assessment, individuals are awarded verifiable and tamper-proof digital badges or certifications, stored in their digital passport.
  3. Blockchain-based technology storage of learning points, the cryptoSKILL currency, credentials and achievements, ensuring security, integrity, and transparency of the digital passport.


As part of their wider work the ARISE team are working with other projects and partners to ensure interoperability and standardization, facilitating widespread adoption, establishing standardised formats and protocols for digital passports, enabling seamless sharing and recognition across industries and platforms. The ARISE H2020 digital passport model stimulates and encourages continuous learning and will be designed to accommodate ongoing skill development, allowing individuals to update their credentials as they acquire new skills or certifications. Building a digital passport for skills by completing online training and upskilling is an innovative approach to showcasing professional development and expertise. By incorporating key components like skill assessment, digital badging, blockchain-based storage, learning awards/points, crypto currencies interoperability, and continuous learning, learners will be able to create a comprehensive digital credential that can be shared with ease.

  4. Create and Share a Digital Portfolio: Develop a digital skills passport that prominently displays your certifications and skills, and share it on professional platforms like LinkedIn or personal websites.
  5. Continuously Update Your Skills: Regularly update your digital portfolio with new skills and certifications to demonstrate your commitment to continuous learning and professional development
