In my prior article, we talked about the issues faced by individuals operating from home. Now, let's dive into one of the most crucial aspects of creating a productive home office environment, concerning the basic characteristics of a work-place extent, placement of furniture and other equipment, decoration, and lighting. For someone who has worked with several customers in furnishing their convenient home office, it’s ‘An important thing which cannot be overemphasized’ to plan the layout well. The first of these is to secure a convenient area in which the individual can work with as few interferences as possible. This could be an additional room in your home, an area made out of a closet, or just a spot in the living room. After you have chosen your venue, the next thing is the arrangement of desks, chairs, and other relevant storage areas. Adjustable office chairs are an important ergonomics consideration and its advisable to purchase one of good quality. Your chair also should provide back support and help to maintain a good posture. It is also expensive to have an ergonomic chair that prevents strain or injury.

No less vital is the desk’s height and height relative to the hips.

The use of a detached keyboard and mouse is recommended but should be close to the right height that the arms are resting at 90 degrees on the working surface. This will assist in avoiding pain in the neck and shoulder and also, avoiding the prospect of having carpal tunnel syndrome.

Also, for better postural support and overall comfort at your workplace, it is good to have ergonomic accessories including a monitor stand, wrist rest, and a #footrest apart from the chair and desk. All these relatively minor enhancements can provide quite a substantial improvement to one’s comfort and efficiency.

Adopting correct arrangements and ergonomic features of the working environment within the home office will thus result in an environment that fosters concentration, lessens body stress, and improves the general health of the worker. In the next article, we will discuss how natural lighting and views of the in-house environment can affect your mood and productivity positively while working from home.
