Creating a perfect CV for juniors in IT

What does CV mean in the modern world? It is a personal portrait created from letters, not from paints and brushes. The Recruiter or Hiring manager gets to know you from this one piece of paper.??

All resumes have the same characteristics, but in this article, I want to share some tips for junior newcomers in the IT world.??

Let’s start:??

  1. Length. Your CV must be up to three pages. It’s not a novel, you need to share just the required information.??
  2. Format. Try to use PDF or Doc format for a readable view. Also, you can use well-known tools like: https://resume.io/, https://cvmkr.com/, or https://zety.com/cv-maker. Try to provide information in blocks and in a readable form. For example, here is the information about your education:??

As we see from the screen, the name of the topic and main information are bold and have another color. So, the recruiter or hiring manager will quickly find all the information they need.??

  1. The main needed blocks are (in order):??

  • Name and Surname.?
  • The position that you want or have now.?
  • Contacts (email, social media, telephone number).?
  • Main skill set and level of knowledge of each skill.??
  • Experience (from the newest to the oldest position). Try to write down your position, company name, responsibilities, achievements, duration of cooperation, and contact person for feedback if possible. Here’s a good example:??

Your pet projects or freelance projects, especially if you don’t have any commercial experience in a desirable area.??

  • Cover letter. Why are you the best candidate for this position? ????

In addition to having a great CV, every junior specialist needs to be attentive to the requirements of every position that interests them. If you see that vacancy requires substantial experience, but you don’t have it, there are only slight chances for success. I recommend paying attention to different trainee positions, internships, and courses in IT companies. It’s an excellent way to be hired after pieces of training there.?

You could try freelancing too! It helps you receive your first commercial experience and recommendations.?o, remember that in our area, English level is very important too, because IT specialists work with clients and companies all around the world. ????

Good luck, friends!??
