Creating the perfect CV: An iHR Active Guide
As recruiters, we have seen our fair share of CVs that not only don’t do you justice but end up ruining your chances at this job.
The most important thing you need to remember as you work on your CV is that this is the first impression of you that you are sending out in the world. Make sure it represents you well by fixing these very simple and often overlooked mistakes!
This is where your recruiter will look to try to get in touch with you for further information or to send you an invite for an interview. You can’ afford to put incorrect information.
2. Positioning your details: Full Name, Qualifications, Skills, Personal Summary, Age, and Gender.
This is the information you put first. Your recruiter has 50-100 CVs to go through so if they have to invest more time on your CV that’s already a strike for you. This is critical information during the screening process so make sure it stands out at the top!

3. Proofread and proofread again.
Spelling and grammatical errors can be the reason your CV gets rejected. Show the recruiter that you value and respect them enough to take the time in creating a well-thought-out CV that is exceptionally written and presented. Spelling and grammatical errors are not worth losing out on life-changing opportunities.
4. Reliable References.
The only other self-sabotage more worse than a bad CV is a Reference who appears to have forgotten who you are or cannot communicate or express themselves well. Whoever you select as your reference must be aware that you have made them a reference on your CV and they need to be able to sell you well.
5. Do not lie.
If you cannot do something, do not claim that you can. Lies always chase you, catch up with you and destroy your reputation, but honesty and transparency will carry you up the corporate ladder and keep you there.
