Creating order out of chaos

90% of the project manager’s time is spent formally or informally communicating. The project does not exist in isolation. Creating win-win situations, resolving conflicts, meeting deadlines are a few of the things that the project manager focuses on along with the team.?

The most important job of a Project Manager is?to nurture an environment where everyone in the team can share openly, commit to their responsibilities, and collectively work towards achieving the project goal.?

And hence it is important to look beyond what a Project Manager sees,?like -?

• Trying to see beyond what one is accustomed to
• Never deny or avoid the issue
• Learning from each other
• Opening doors for successes and creating space for failure
• Not shutting down of fear
• The opening door of your heart to accommodate new opportunities by understanding people?
• Listen and share your experience
• Understanding other people’s behavior, perceptions
• Expanding horizon and scope and do not limit yourself to the old ways you’ve been taught?
• Realizing that there may be other different ways of doing things efficiently?

There are several tools that can be used to help achieve the above. Like Identifying stakeholders, maintaining the stakeholder register, and planning communication basis interest and influence. That is in regard to the bible, documentation is the key and so is understanding and analyzing the situation well. Tools can only help once applied with a purpose aligned to the project goal.

Most projects do not fail due to problems with cost, time, or schedule, but with people. Work is all that matters. And people are all that matters. It is collectively we achieve our goal, get these amazing ideas, and more importantly, have fun!
