Mosque as an Icon of the Nation
The new Mosque will be a new addition to the already impressive array of iconic buildings Dubai has in its architectural inventory. The design responds to the character of ‘being iconic’ at multiple levels- The new mosque is clearly a departure from the typology, highly contemporary in its interpretation of traditional prayer space and inventive in its response to cultural and immediate context.
The new Mosque is expected to sit in conversation with other iconic architecture in Dubai, and in a larger context, with other sacred buildings from world around, which have pushed the boundary of places for worship.
Mosque as an identity of the Nation
Dubai’s identity, as one of the most progressive nations on the planet has been built-on far reaching vision and transformative quality, it possess as a nation.
The new mosque shall amplify these notions in its quest for redefining and consolidating the identity and positioning in the world as the most innovative nation in the region, combining people, culture, commerce and its tolerant Islamic tradition.
Mosque as ‘Tour de Force’ of the Nation’s Technological innovation initiatives
Dubai got world’s attention not only as world’s most agile and transformative economies, but also as highly influential and successful incubator and protagonist of high-tech innovation to further the nation’s human capital.
The new mosque shall define a new paradigm in the architectural typology of places for worship, through its innovative design, deployment of most advanced sustainable technologies and materials.
The design has the largest domed space (69.0m) in a place of worship, and arguably the largest column free space in any mosques on the planet till date.
Mosque as a Centre for universal peace and Tolerance
Islam, by far, is the most misrepresented religion in modern times. In spite of its literal meaning of ‘PEACE’ and teachings which, extoll tolerance and wider world view, the perception of the religion in the non-Islamic world remains, by far, misguided and misinformed.
The new Mosque shall be positioned as one of the global centres for true dissemination of the ethos of the religion and its teachings, emphatically underscoring the message of Quran in verse 2:256
The minaret will carry the calligraphy of this, proclaiming the universal tolerance, Quran teaches and upholds.
The mosque, with its unique architecture, deemed to become a tourist attraction furthering the cross cultural and inter-faith interaction
