Creating a new Business

I’m launching my new business next week! Couler Ltd.
Already, the act of corporate creation has been packed full of learning, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Whether you’re thinking of starting a side hustle or going all out and creating a new business, here are my thoughts that will help you on the journey.
?
Excitement tinged with anxiety
The idea of being your own boss is thrilling. You get to turn your vision into reality, build something from scratch, and make decisions that truly matter. But with that excitement comes anxiety, in fact they are anxieties I didn’t even know I had.? You are exposed and there is no comfy corporate blanket to wrap around yourself. However, you are free, in charge of your own destiny and truly empowered like never before…how good is that!
?
Help, I need somebody…??
You are not alone. Friends, family, and your network are now one of your greatest assets. Use them, speak to them, listen and take heed. We all need advice, encouragement, and sometimes just a listening ear. Starting a business is not a solo task done in isolation, even if it feels like it. A supportive network will keep you grounded and motivated when things get tough.
?
Deciding what to offer
One key step is deciding what services you will offer, to who, and at what scale. Logic tells me having a clear offer of options will make it easy to buy. The flow of Marketing to sales to preparing to delivery to completion will be unique to you, but it’s important to map them out. Make sure they’re easy to explain and highlight the benefits or gains your clients will achieve. Having a clear and structured approach can make all the difference. I’m yet to start, so watch this space.
?
A Simple Plan and Timescale
Creating a simple plan and timescale is really helpful. It gives you structure, confidence, and needle-moving actions to focus on. Break down your goals into manageable steps with realistic deadlines. This programme will not only help you stay on track but also provide a sense of accomplishment as you check off each milestone.
?
Tackling the Tech
One of the first challenges you’ll face is setting up your online presence. There’s a lot to think about:

Trial and error is part of the new business journey. You’ll make mistakes, but each one is a learning opportunity.
?
Making Choices (and Living with Them)
Starting a business means making a lot of decisions, some big and some small. Some will turn out great, others less so. Even with my creative mindset it’s a challenge to stay flexible and open-minded. If something doesn’t work, pivot and try a new approach. It’s all part of finding your way, maintaining pace and not getting stuck in the weeds. If the decision can be changed just make it.
?
It’s much easier than you think
Setting up the legal and financial side of things is surprisingly straightforward. Creating a Limited company can be done online in minutes. Opening a business bank account is also easy, with many digital banks offering quick and user-friendly options. Modern Accountancy software for Start-ups is simple and straightforward.

Tools to help You
We live in a golden age of tools and resources. Google and ChatGPT have been lifesavers for me. Need advice on marketing? Stuck on how to amend DNS protocols? Chat it through with them, watch a Youtube video or two and they can help get you on the right track. They’re not a replacement for professional advice, but are a fabulous starting point, especially if it is something you know little about.
Stay Positive and Persistent
Starting a business is a journey, not a sprint. There will be moments of doubt and frustration, but there will also be moments of pride and joy. Celebrate small wins – I was so chuffed when I got my email to work with couler.co.uk. ?As in life the key is to keep going. Success cannot evade persistence.
A Word of Advice
If you’re considering starting your own business, just start. The road may be bumpy, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. I know this is true as a share an office with two Start up businesses. Surround yourself with supporters, stay agile, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. You’ve got this!
