Creating the network of the future: You said.. Our response

On the 14th December, we held the ‘Creating the network of the future – RIIO-ED2 innovation Strategy’ Forum with our stakeholders across the innovation community to co-create our Innovation Strategy and approach for the RIIO-ED2 period from 2023 to 2028. 

The purpose of the event was to co-create with our stakeholder approaches and mechanisms to innovate within our business to meet our objectives and deliver value for customers. The success of our innovation depends on ideas, implementation and delivery and our stakeholders are a key part of these processes.

The Forum on 14 December resulted in stakeholders sharing with us ideas, concepts and additional measures which could facilitate greater stakeholder involvement in SSEN’s innovation. Some key issues raised by stakeholders related to:

·        Transparency around our innovation program

·        How stakeholders can support our innovation program

·        How SSEN prioritises issues for inclusion in the innovation program

·        SSEN’s procurement process

·        How SSEN’s Innovation Strategy and process will evolve

As a further step in our co-creation phase as part of our RIIO-ED2 business planning, we intend to hold a further Stakeholder Forum on 11 February 2021 to share with stakeholders our responses to the issues raised.

The purpose of this event is to put forward options to stakeholders on how we can improve our Innovation Strategy and planning for the RIIO-ED2 period. We will be joined by our partner, the Energy Innovation Centre (EIC), who we work with to ensure input into our Innovation Strategy and plans is accessible to small and medium businesses (SMEs).

Even if you were unable to attend our Forum in December 2020 your participation would be greatly appreciated and valued. Importantly, you may identify gaps in our proposals.
