Creating ‘A Mentally Healthy Organisation'

Creating ‘A Mentally Healthy Organisation'

The profound, simultaneous and accelerating shift in political,?economic, social, demographic and technological conditions creates a sense of overwhelm which could lead to stress and other mental health challenges.

But rather than focus on the negative impacts of mental health issues, we would like to turn our attention to helping you create a template that facilitates authentic conversations around mental health challenges in the workplace.

In celebration of?Mental Health Awareness?month, we take a closer look at how organisations can create an atmosphere that promotes positive mental health at work. Here are some of the ways that organisations can foster clear and honest discussions around this sensitive yet vital topic:

  • Create a Psychologically safe environment?
  • Leaders leading the charge in discussing the mental health of their teams
  • Normalising mental health discussions in the workplace?
  • Help create purpose or meaningfulness for each individual as well as the collective

By having these deep and meaningful dialogues, organisations can minimise and hopefully one day eradicate the stigma associated with mental health issues. By working together we can create? The Mentally Healthy Organisation?- where discussions around mental health are welcomed rather than avoided- in the not too distant future. Coaching and team coaching skills enhance the ability of leaders and managers to create these important conversations, as well as, the conditions and culture where they are normal.

Tony believes that the role of a coach, mindfulness teacher and trainer is to help a client become truly “self generative” and “self corrective” through “vertical development” and excellent presence in relation to their goals. He believes that in order for professionals to develop “productive” behaviours, they need to develop or discover their deepest motivational drivers and connect these to their goals and then to required behaviour supporting these.
