Creating Memories and Confidence!

Fathers are a vital key to their daughter’s future and don't let anyone tell you different. A father's relationship with his daughter's is one of the key determinants in a woman’s ability to enjoy a successful life and marriage. Yes, marriage!

What we do as fathers, especially if you are in that percentage of fathers that did not choose divorce, is to keep your eye on the big picture in terms of your daughter’s future. Think about how you want them to describe their relationship with you in ensuing years. I continue to let my daughters know they are capable of anything. Even though mine are 7 and 9, I respect their decisions. I value their intelligence, opinions, and talents to enable them to one day thrive and become self-confident young women. As our world continues to evolve I hope to empower them to believe they can become leaders amongst their peers.

The breakup of a family often changes the dynamic of the father-daughter relationship if you let it by not being involved. Life becomes more busy when you are a single parent, but I challenge divorced dads and their daughters to stay connected as much as possible. Lasting memories will allow you to play an important role during their lives that install confidence.

I love these images above because these two challenged themselves on terrain most adults would not do at Bolton Valley or on most trails here in New England. Learning from my mother, I nurture their interests with enthusiasm. I do my best to encourage them to practice their talents, efforts and strengths. I know these efforts will boost their self-esteem in the coming years.

Confidence is one of the greatest gifts I hope to instill in my girls. Each day I am with them I challenge myself to find ways to to help my girls gain the confidence to guide them to be the best version that they can be on a daily basis. Remember that to build lasting confidence you must teach them through competence.
