Creating a Human Skills Institute
Charlie Boyle
CEO @ Customer Service Excellence Ireland | Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management UK
I have been really pleased with the seed investment we have raised to create the aspirational Human Skills Institute in Donegal. The reason for such an Institute is born from the evidence which shows the need for Human Skills in the future skills of the workplace yet the absence of availability of the key skills in training.
I have been fortunate to be involved in a Global Opportunity Initiative created by George Westerman and Steve Nelson emerging from 美国麻省理工学院 Their efforts at bringing the right skills to the right people in the right place at scale is an exciting project and I have been asked to chair a human skills working group which comprises of Oran Doherty Katie Hall Massimo Temussi and Fumie HIGASHIRA ....an exceptional and diverse group of good people.
In research, carried out in Ireland with eight industry sectors, it is found that employees and employers agree that up to 50% of the skills of the future will be Human Skills.
More research is required and we would really like to collaborate with the many educational providers and training boards, the universities and colleges, the skillnets and all involved in providing education, training, and development for the workforce of the future. Likewise, companies that know that the deficit in human skills exists yet are required, can become involved.

By creating a Global Human Skills Institute based in Ireland, we can create a better understanding of the key human skills required and then build out the modules to support the learning of the future. A future that is here.
Join us on this journey of creating a Human Skills Institute....a collaborative cause for good in education, training and development. Business is no longer about data and logic, or instinct and imagination. We must embrace the inevitable dance between the two. We must develop technology that is humanised and putting human skills at the heart of technology. It is not Human Skills v Technology, it is both working together.

1 年This is a great initiative. There is a move away from the concept of 'talent' towards the more tangible and equitable concept of 'skill's'. Thank goodness. Empathy in particular needs to be developed if we are to make Business more humane and less Mercenary. GWAN Charlie Boyle!
