Creating Harmony to Transform Society.

Creating Harmony to Transform Society.

How do we instigate social transformation and create a peaceful living environment?

It is not a new phenomenon to receive reports of violence and abuse, and children are starting to ignore shocking graphics displayed on news bulletins, and even death has become a normal part of life. With the increasing attention, painted by media on crime, disaster, and disease in society, we need to ask; what is the underlying basis for the pain and desperation that fuels the destructive behaviour It seems that we live in a time pervaded with self-absorbed thought full of cynicism and judgement, with anger boiling over in traffic jams and domestic violence on the forefront, and war and desolation permeating the world in a hopeless outcry for revolution. People Development Consultants, Social Change Agents, and Transformational Coaches need to ask, what is at play here? And how can I help communities to create a better tomorrow for their children to live in?

The Challenges we face in Society today.

Scientifically, we live in a time of profound radical, whole system change and our understanding of the world is being transfigured at an unprecedented revolutionary pace. With this is a growing consensus among spiritual scholars, scientists, health-care practitioners, and community development visionaries that we find ourselves on the cusp of a quantum leap into a new cycle of evolutionary consciousness. But, this awareness is not focussed on the higher aspects of human potential and achievement, rather there seems to be a call for humanity to fearlessly move beyond comfort zones, and be courageous enough to be the difference they want to see in the world.

Transformative Leaders have a passion for creating this positive change in the and are people who create an environment wherein they can facilitate dialogue and critical reflection on the mechanisms currently employed to bring about renewal, harmony, and peace. The intricacies involved, however, require leaders to foster a new kind of humanity, one who and works from the inside out. This approach requires the personal capacity both leaders and change agents, as well as the receptive community and client, to explore strategies beyond political agendas and business intentions. For what is required of effective leaders to initiate change is the personal capacity to deal with the inner complexities involved in social change. This capacity includes knowledge, research and innovation, but principally involves a personal spiritual orientation to life that does not promote or social structures to control human actions. Social Transformation will only transpire once there is a collective inner response that values and a common spiritual awareness that fosters dignity, respect, and principles for harmonious living. From personal transformation emerges a renewed approach to life that is grounded in a holistic understanding of our world and our role as human beings that becomes a catalyst for change action.

Brits an integrative holistic spiritual approach to the process of Social Development and Human Empowerment. Being involved with grassroots Community Development Projects in the has led to deeper insights about the relationship that exists between mechanisms introduced for survival, and the constant dependency for organisational input and motivation to implement skills imparted. We have questioned, what is it that makes humans attack and perceive each other as a threat, causing us to build walls of ethnic separation and rejection? We have also seen that a preoccupation with the wrongs in the world, only diminishes creative solutions to current situations. When people dwell on everything that went wrong in the past, they cause that same obstacle to emerge again in the future, for they have already caused it in the collective mind. So if you always do what you’ve always done - you will always get what you’ve always got. Just more of the destructive overtone that pre-occupies the mind. But, this is not the way that the “New Earth” dynamics and the processes of transformation work. Then, how do we obtain harmony and peace in the world, and which life-principles can humanity use to establish goodwill in the communities in which they live? The transformation of destructive social behaviour may sound impossible at first, but when we are preoccupied with making a difference, we will be willing to stand for the principles that can make a difference in the world. It all starts with the individual taking responsibility for the way they live now, which influences the future.

What can we do to bring about change and social transformation, and why should we?

While the secret to a meaningful personal life happens from the inside out, the same principle can be applied in a wider social context. It happens from the inside out. When we change the agreements, perceptions, or principles that determine our actions, there is an immediate experiential benefit that influences our environmental well-being and circumstances that emerge in our interaction with life. Could it really be possible that our experiences of life can be completely transformed as we work from the inside out – starting with thoughts and feelings? When we focus on inner values, driven by compassion, care, and a willingness to make the world a better place we achieve a sense of peace and well-being, and life becomes less stressful and more fruitful and creative? And being in a position where decisions and actions are guided by “integrative spiritual principles”, releases an effect that transforms. Here is what I do. While people are generally living unconscious, and are preoccupied with survival, they neglect their spiritual purposes in life. So I encourage, and teach people how to live on purpose, and apply spiritual principles in a harmonious way that brings meaning to life.

As an example, the Meta-Life Institute offers a ten-day part time/correspondence intensive experiential course on how to live your truth consciously with purpose. In the short course, I expropriate on the application of spiritual teachings to promote Social and Personal Transformation. During this course you will learn strategies to deal with anger management, coping with disappointments, effective stress management, goal setting and living with purpose. Should you like to know more about the principles you can contact me directly, or read more about it here: Live Your Truth. So how do we create a better life? As an example, in applying the principles gained through the course you may just influence others to do the same. In the words of Marcus Aurelius, “He who lives in harmony with himself, lives in harmony with the world”, and may inspire others to do the same. So what would you, or other thought leaders like to do in their personal capacity to promote harmony and social transformation? Please share your thoughts.
