Creating an Eye-Catching Profile on The Rookies

My team and I dedicate countless hours to our main project page and talent search area, reaching out to members daily to help promote their work even more. I get pumped whenever I come across a standout profile.
Registering and onboarding is super easy; however, I believe setting up a profile is THE most important part of anyone’s journey at The Rookies. Why? Because when recruiters find you, your profile needs to be impactful or else you’ve lost them! Here are some things to remember:
Signing up
Signing up is easy and can be done here. Remember to use your personal email and not one associated with a school. This allows you to stay connected for years to come.
What will appear on your profile?
Take some time to think about what will appear on your profile page.
Start with the easy bits (name, etc.) and select your school name. HOT TIP: Start with the exact spelling of your school name, and you will see it appear in the drop-down. If you are unsure, check our school directory for how it is written and represented on The Rookies platform. This is important because when the Rookie Awards come around, you want to make sure you represent your school in the Global School Rankings!
What will you say about yourself in your tagline? If I want to get noticed as a material artist for films, TV, or games, I might say something like: "I love working with texture and detail across characters and props and aspire to be a Material Artist for Film, TV, and Games."

And how do you communicate how much you want to make this happen? What would you say in a paragraph about where you are on your journey? HOT TIP: Don’t leave this all up to Chat GPT. We want to hear from you! And also, remember you can update this at any time - keep things fresh! Here’s an idea: "Currently a third-year student at [school], I am aspiring to be a Material Artist for Film, TV, and Games. I live for texture and detail, especially when applied to characters. I have a solid foundation in software such as Substance 3D Painter, Substance 3D Designer, and Quixel Mixer. I'm eager to expand my skills further, particularly in procedural workflows and exploring technologies like real-time rendering engines."
I don’t know how many times (so so many times…) I have seen an amazing portfolio of work, only to go to the artist's profile and see no way to contact them. I will probably avoid reaching out for editorial and publishing opportunities if this is the case.
Also, if I am a recruiter and I'm interested in chatting with you, I want to reach out to you then and there. It might put me off to start a Where’s Waldo search on the various social platforms to find you. Add your website details, LinkedIn, and social media accounts to your profile. No excuses.
Advanced Profile Settings and Tips
When you first create your profile on The Rookies, your page will be quite basic and only include data that you added during the Onboarding process.
This is why we recommend you introduce yourself to your profile settings page, where you can really dig in and level up your page. The quickest way to access this page is to click the avatar icon located top-right on the menu bar and select Settings.
Your profile on The Rookies is your calling card to the industry. It's where recruiters and industry professionals discover you and your work. Make it impactful, detailed, and easy to contact you. Your profile is your digital portfolio, your first impression, and your ticket to exciting opportunities. Take the time to build it well, and let your talent shine through!
