There’s no doubt that it can feel daunting to bring up taboo topics in the workplace.
However, progressive employers are reaping the benefits of doing just that. As people open up to talk about difficult experiences, others who share the same fears start to feel psychologically safe, empowering them to reach out and ask for help.

The Co-op Sober Curious Society
This month at the Co-op, colleagues heard from one of their senior leaders, Michelle, about her decision to stop drinking. Enabling people to catch sight of what life might be like without alcohol (spoiler alert, it’s better) is a simple and effective way to reduce alcohol harm. Most of us have been raised in a drinking culture and have very few sober heroes. I’m so delighted to be able to bring this to people in the group and to have the privilege of helping them to step off the booze train and find their joy.
Next month I’ll be helping the Society Members to prepare to not just survive, but to thrive on an alcohol free Christmas, including navigating the works doo, completely alcohol free.
