Creating a daily lifestyle

Creating a daily lifestyle

Leaders and executives often ask the question …how do we create and maintain higher resilience in the workplace? We are doing this and then we do that, however we still have issues in our team. Tough question, yet in many ways it can be simple. There are many things happening for staff in and out of the workplace, so resilience is always a topic of interest and something that needs continual focus. We all know the key things that support resilience, however as I travel across the country, I see so many leaders and teams that have reduced resilience. One of the answers to this question lies in changing how we see work. It is crucial to help teams create a daily lifestyle and see what they do during the day i.e. having to go to work as part of that created lifestyle. When we structure our day positively and work happens to be part of that, it can change the energy about how we connect to the activity. Of course if we do not like what we do, don’t want to go to work, however know we have to, it creates negative internal and external energy, therefore impacting resilience over time. When we engage in our daily lifestyle in a way that creates positive energy, our resilience increases. Changing up the language relating to work helps to change our thinking process, which in turn changes the energy process and HZ output. If we create a daily lifestyle that we enjoy, work just becomes part of it, instead of the other way around. Consider how you want your daily lifestyle to be if you are going to work each day.

Consider, how would you like your daily lifestyle to be?

Does it need a shake up for 2024?

Does your work rule your daily lifestyle and mindset?

Whatever we are doing, our energy— the attitude, the thinking process, and the emotions we put into that topic (in this case, 'work')—will determine the result, and, in the end, shape our entire life.

It’s so easy to allow ‘work’ to define your lifestyle instead of choosing how ‘work’ fits into the lifestyle you want to create. I also think leaders sometimes need ‘time out’ from the work place to reflect on the decisions we make, often under pressure, remind ourselves of what is important to us and to recalibrate. This is a journey I’m about to embark on and thanks Tracey for being part of my journey.
