Creating the Coaching ‘presence’ ...

More than ever people are looking for certainty to help them get through these uncertain times, as they reevaluate their lives, their thinking, where they’re at, where they’re heading, and who they’re being.  

Think about how you can serve your people right now, and provide them with the certainty they need.

Establish the coaching relationship - there is plenty to consider here: 

??The coaching session must be set up as a unique and safe space for the people you lead. It is all about them. 

??The ‘being’ of the space must be judgment-free. You must come with only the best of intentions for the people you lead. This means you must suspend your own personal preferences, assumptions, and judgments. This is not about you. This is about the people you lead. 

??Remember, no two people are the same. How one person experiences their world cannot be the same as how the next person theirs.

??There is no right or wrong. There is no good or bad. It’s not for you to decide if something is wrong. It’s not for you to decide that something is right or give it any other label. You, as the leader coaching your people, must suspend all labels of what something could mean so that the people you lead feel to express exactly what they feel and what they need for you right now. 

??Get curious. Be intensely, relentlessly curious, and help your people discover their own personal purpose. This doesn’t mean just seek information about them. It’s not ‘information gathering’. It’s being curious by asking relevant, powerful, and purposeful questions. 

The coaching ‘space’ can be set up on the phone, through zoom, in a coffee shop, in a home, in the office… There is no right or wrong place to conduct the coaching session. Explore different options. Ask the person for their preference.

Be aware that as a ‘leader’ you wear many hats. During the coaching session you may be required to act as the persons: 

??Coach

??Mentor

??Expert adviser 

??Teacher 

??Fellow brainstormer 

??Confidant

??Cheer squad 

??Quiet presence

Bring your curiosity, your willingness to learn, and your openness to think differently, because Coaching is:

??Helping the people you lead to move from where they are right now, to where they want to be

??A conversation between you and people you lead, where you assist them to gain clarity on a goal they may want to achieve

??Exploring alternative ideas, options, and solutions 

??Helping them to overcome any obstacles 

??Brainstorming ways forward

??Encouraging stretches and challenges

??Guiding your people to see their true potential

??Facilitating transformation within the people you lead in the most effortless way possible

The true power in coaching is asking the right questions at the right time to achieve optimal results and get the best out of your people. 

And Remember, if the people you lead are striving for their new selves, you champion them. 

You champion ??The small steps. ??The big steps. ??The missteps. ??The mistakes. ALL OF IT!
