Created to Create

Created to Create

I was created to be creative.

And so were you.

I’m often in awe of how I never seem to run out of ideas. Even when I do the same thing over and over again, it’s never exactly the same thing.

I like to draw and scribble.

Different colors, different shapes, different surfaces.

Something about the process of doodling in this way soothes my mind.?

I can focus on the lines, the shapes, the negative space at the same time as I can let my thoughts and intentions roam freely.

I lose a little bit of myself on days I don’t create something.

And when I make something beautiful, I feel beautiful, too.

It breaks my heart when I hear people say, “I’m not creative.”

You were created to be creative.

Just like I was.

Maybe it’s because what people think of as “creative” has something to do with the arts. Visual art, craft-making, designing, dancing, singing, performing, etc.?

But not everyone’s creativity comes out that way.

Sometimes, creativity shows up in the way you serve a meal.

Or how you plan an event.

Or how you negotiate a deal or perform a daily task.

Or the way you can make a baby smile or a friend laugh.

There are so many different ways for your creativity to come out. If you think you’re not creative, maybe you just haven’t found your thing yet.

Creativity takes courage because all our lives we’ve been told that fitting in is the thing to do. And creativity is so unique to each one of us that by definition being creative means standing out. And it takes courage to stand out. To be different. To be seen.

You might wonder if you have what it takes to unleash your brand of creativity. Your uniqueness. Your weirdness. You might wonder if your weirdness is too weird or not weird enough. You might find yourself judging your creativity more than flowing with it. If that’s you, and you’re interested in learning more about your beautiful, uniquely created and creative self, check out my introductory course.
