Across industries, we have similar problems. Finding projects, finding people, training, firing, contracts. There are so many similarities it’s kind of insane. Thing is, those differences in industries make all the difference. The language, the contracts, the people. So many differences when you look at different industries.
Let’s take industrial vs healthcare construction. Very different. Different words. Different schedules. Different people. Different means and methods.
Business owners suffer from a lot of the same things. I know, I talk to a lot of them. But the specific industry problems they each deal with are unique. Sure, some cross-over, but a lot of them are unique to the industry.
One thing that I have noticed, that I mentioned in yesterday’s article is training. A lot of people complain about finding people. But they have no training pipeline in place. When you have a qualification pipeline in place, you can bring in just about anyone you want to the firm and you’ll be able to train them how you want. This gives you a lot of latitude in what you’re able to do.
And in today’s market, that is a true competitive advantage. Something that is difficult to replace. Mainly because it looks and smells like work. When you start to have things that work and people doing the work and more people to fill in the ranks behind them. Sounds pretty unstoppable to me.
Because no matter the industry you’re in or the work that you’re doing, having a competitive advantage is key. When you’re able to grow those competitive advantages into something that truly insulate you from competition the better.

We also have to market those competitive advantages. Because even though we know our solution is better. Has better warranties. Does something different and better than the competition, if we don’t say it, then they don’t know it.
Kinda like with Kowabunga Studios. I’ve done a bad job at saying just how much our software can do. Yes, it does take a little bit to coordinate our software with your families and models, but once everything aligns, you become a production machine. Getting work done you couldn’t believe.
And that’s also my fault. It does so much that it’s unbelievable to people. When built correctly, that’s the point in a way. It’s just that productive.
All I’m getting at is that you should have competitive advantages. We all struggle with something, but the more systems you have in place. The more you’re able to defend yourself, the better everything gets. ?
