Create Your own Heart Safe Community

The recent tragic death in our driveway - a grandmother run over by a garbage truck - was horrific! - this has moved me and motivated me to take positive action for all.

Through my channels I have secured a public access defibrillator for our little community – should we be tragically hit by a cardiac arrest or heart attack disaster.

I have placed a publicly accessible defibrillator outside my House , in a stand-alone alarmed cabinet, half way up our driveway hill, as seen in the photos below. Hopefully it is never used, but it is available in a time of emergency.

Some facts for my motivation towards this positive community action:

·       In Australia approximately 30,000 people sustain Sudden Cardiac Arrest outside of a hospital and are treated by emergency medical services (EMS) each year.

·       An average of only 9% of its victims in Australia survive due to the lack of defibrillators available and CPR.

·       It can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone, even young athletes.

·       Early defibrillation is the single most effective treatment for Sudden Cardiac Arrest. (SCA)

·       Defibrillation within three minutes of collapse can increase the chance of survival to over 70% - hence why I am making a public access defibrillator available.

For approx $100 per household in a street of 30 houses - you can create a Heart Safe Environment.
