Create Your Dream Life Through Your Career [It's Easier Than You Think]

One of the things I’ve noticed lately that stops people in their tracks..

In their lives…

Is that they don’t create.

Create?

Yes, you’ve heard me right.

They don't create... They repeat, repeat, repeat.

Something that has already been created.

Something that someone else has created.

And they don't realize they're not creating themselves. That's the most tragic part.

They're in some sort of mirage that makes them feel that, if they continue a bit longer, they keep going a bit more, they'll create - they'll arrive at their dream life.

Case Study

I’ve seen this in the past year and a half with my clients. When they start.

Whether they are professionals, entrepreneurs, artists, or stay-at-home moms…

They are stuck in their A, B, C, routines.

And they stay there.

Even when these aren't working

I'll give you an example that may resonate from a professional, day-to-day perspective.

At work:

We see people that are reticent to change. They typically have their monthly process which consists of:

  • The monthly KPI reporting spreadsheet
  • The monthly KPI reporting presentation

That's it - lol.

When asked "why" we're doing it this way, they'll come up with a myriad of reasons why it's done that way.

So that the status quo is unaltered.

And the thing is that, looking at business from a static perspective translates into their lives - which also become static.

Not criticizing it at all - I've definitely been there.

But definitely, something important to realize if one wants to change.

Get better results.

Get more out of life!

Static Vs Dynamic Life

Static, repetitive actions, dull the mind.

Repeat them over the years and they become very very hard to change. Harder as time goes by. Sort of like a train sitting on its tracks.

Already hard to move in and of itself. From the sheer weight of it.

Try after it rusts.

So...

Let's Cut To The Chase

If you want to [drastically] change your life, start with your career, and start by doing this:

Dare to dream - Mindset

Still to this day I’m mesmerized how when I ask clients "What’s your dream job” they always add, “Hmm, that’s a great question” and smile sarcastically.

As if it were out of their control.

And what shocks me the most...

They don't know. They've never thought about it!

Dare To Paint The Future To Your Liking - [More] Mindset

On a blank canvas. Without blocks.

Dare to paint the perfect scenario.

What's the worst that can happen? That you end up falling short of your dream?

I can live with falling short of my dream (becoming the most influential career strategist in the world). We can’t live without dreaming at all.

It's just not possible - we do it every night.

Then Start Creating

Some people call this “putting in the work”. But I don’t like that.

Only because it already makes it feel like it’s painful and we haven’t even started yet!

It doesn't have to. It's painful when you don't have a clear dream you've experienced/visualized. Your self-image hasn't expanded (more to come on self-image).

Starting to create means getting on news paths. Trying new things.

Even if everybody else (including your ego) tells you they’ll lead nowhere. From a career perspective, this translates into:

Working on your professional self-image. Your perception of yourself will determine how far you get - what compensation you’ll receive.

Creating a Career Strategy

Short, Medium, and Long term. With you at the center.

Forget the guru-talk. The sort of people that tell you you can't start a business if you don't have a business plan.

It can't be boring. It has to be the intersection of your reality and your dream career.

Working closer to your dream each time - not accepting anything less.

It has to be exciting. If not you won't get started.

Build The Future - Hone In On The Tactics

Now that you have the master plan (your career strategy) or something that looks like it...

Get the golden source of tactics. Starting to do things that you know will work.

The internet is full of crappy or should I say “incomplete” information. The type that can lead you to disaster.

I know, because I've tried it and have been there before (in disaster). So save yourself that pain!

It's better to execute on the hidden trifecta in my titles - Mindset, Strategy, and Tactics.

In that order.

Which also means integrating all these three.

If you notice when you go through this you’ll see that you’ve become someone else.

That doesn’t have a price.

Some Last Words

Don't wait till your strategy is perfect - or you'll never get started. Better to get started with a scratch on a cocktail napkin, then adjust as you go.

To create the life (and career) of your dreams. You have to focus on your future self.

It's not what you have to do, it's whom you have to become.
