Create Wins! Create Success!

Creating Success will require you or your team to step up and do some hard work. Implement behaviors and habits that may not feel comfortable. This is especially true in the time of Covid-19.
However, I always suggest when getting started, either personally or with your team, you set-up some easy wins.
Build momentum. Have your team develop some camaraderie. Determine how you all work together.
When teams come together, it is usually for a significant project. The work ahead is often daunting.
Additionally, not all team members may know each other or have previously worked together. Communication styles. Perspectives. Strategies. You can’t expect everyone to come to the table with the same intentions.
That big thing that you need to accomplish is not going anywhere. However, the process you and your team use to accomplish your goal is key. Of course, there are a variety of ways to be successful. However, wouldn't it be nice to take the road of least resistance?
Easy wins at the beginning allow you to determine the different strengths and weaknesses of your team members. Who has great ideas? Who’s into details? Who’s visual? Who works with numbers? Who wants to be the promoter? The facilitator? The motivator?
“Small wins increase not only motivation, but morale, confidence, and productivity. I have seen how small wins have a positive influence on how we feel, and how we feel affects our performance."

Allow people to shine. If you can clock the easy wins, when the work gets tough, confusing, or overwhelming, you’ve built a foundation to work from.
As a leader, this allows you to put in place the habits that you and the team will need to Create Success.
It could be as simple as the frequency of meetings, or how you communicate your progress, or preparing for presentations, or asking for additional resources.
Allowing team members to shine and allowing them to create habits that support their success is an integral strategy to building the momentum that allows for success.
Having the end goal in mind is always important. However, don’t neglect the journey. The path is never a straight line.
