Create Whitespace...
Welcome back to a new edition of my weekly newsletter and thanks for spending a moment reading this today.
This is written specifically to you....
The Problem:?Constant Stimulation
This week, let's pretend you and I are sitting at a coffee shop (in the corner, in a couple of those nice comfy chairs).
It's good coffee. Not the chainstore crap.
Oh. And it's early. Really early in the morning.
ME: "Hey, how are you?"
YOU: "I need to get to work before work starts so I can get my work done today."
You go from meeting to meeting to meeting.
You get shoulder-tapped (or if you are remote, maybe it's slack-tapped or microsoft-teams-slapped-er-tapped).
All. Freaking. Day. Long.
The only time you have to "do the work" is after (or before) "work hours".
You. Are. Burnt. Out.
The Actionable Tip:?Create Whitespace
Take a look at BLOCKING YOUR CALENDAR.
Good stuff there. And you are trying it out (wahoo!).
So, you've created "you time" on your calendar. Well done.
Now. What do you DO with that time?
Ah... THAT is the "White Space" you can create for yourself.
Go.
Observe what happens to your thoughts.
Zero pressure my friend.
Your Next Step...
Think about the problem and my actionable tip.
Now the part where YOU contribute an actionable tip for others who are reading this article....
In the comments below, share?ONE?actionable tip about how you can (or do) create some whitespace in your day to THINK and CREATE.
Some people call this "work" (at least the fun part of our jobs).
Thank you.

2 年Thanks for the reminder, Mike! I need to get back I to the habit of doing this. It is one way I can take care of myself and have more balance in my life.

2 年Michael Vizdos, great suggestions! I employ them already and another one that really helps me get critical crap done every day: the protected daily hour. Surprisingly, I schedule it at the same time as lunch but instead of eating, I actually run for 45 minutes listening to motivational speeches or powerful music, take a cold shower, drink my protein smoothie, and get back to the daily corporate routine. #TrueAgilityRVA
