CREATE WHAT YOU ENJOY & CREATE FOR YOURSELF FIRST
Before I began my LinkedIn content journey, I received two powerful pieces of advice:
"CREATE WHAT YOU ENJOY"
and
"CREATE FOR YOURSELF FIRST."
We’re surrounded by content every day, consuming more than we realize. But if you're a content creator, you need to think about why you’re creating.
If your focus is purely on:
Likes
Shares
External validation
Quick fame
Viral moments
You’ll quickly find yourself burned out or disinterested.
The key to lasting success in content creation is doing it for you. When you create content you genuinely enjoy, your passion reflects in the quality, and that quality naturally attracts the right audience. Even if it doesn’t immediately gain traction, it doesn’t matter. You're doing what you love, and you’re constantly improving. The journey itself becomes rewarding.
Now, how does this approach help in positioning yourself as a top-notch professional in your company?
The answer lies in authenticity and dedication. To be a standout in your company, focus on showcasing your expertise, knowledge, and passion for your work in ways that demonstrate your value:
Share Industry Insights: Regularly post content that showcases your knowledge of the latest trends in your field. This positions you as someone who's not only informed but also eager to contribute to your industry’s growth.
Highlight Achievements: Whether it's completing a project or receiving recognition, celebrate your professional milestones publicly. This boosts your visibility and shows your leadership potential.
Engage with Others: Support colleagues, share thoughtful comments on their posts, and engage with your network. Active participation reflects that you’re not just creating for attention but contributing to the conversation.
Build Thought Leadership: Craft content that is insightful, educative, and adds value to others. Over time, this positions you as a thought leader, someone others turn to for advice and guidance.
Consistency: Just as creating for yourself keeps you motivated, maintaining a steady flow of valuable content highlights your dedication and consistency—a trait essential for standing out as a leader within your company.
Personal Branding: Use your content to build a personal brand that resonates with your values and career goals. This will help others, both inside and outside your company, associate you with the qualities and expertise that make you unique.
So, stay true to yourself. Create content that excites you. Create for your own growth, and let your passion and authenticity shine through to elevate your professional standing.
