Create a unique portfolio to stand out in your job search!

When opposed to telling, demonstrating is always more powerful. While including your experience, talents, and accomplishments on your resume is essential, presenting visual samples of your work in the form of a portfolio increases your credibility and brings your experience to life.

Although creating a portfolio is often associated with creative industries such as graphic design or photography, it can be incredibly beneficial in any field of employment and can help you stand out more in interviews.

HOW TO PRESENT YOUR PORTFOLIO

Bring a physical copy of your portfolio to an interview and be prepared to leave it with the interviewer. Your portfolio might be displayed in a folder or binder with a well-designed table of contents and title page. Alternatively, you can utilize a tablet to exhibit your portfolio digitally during the interview and then email a copy to the interviewer.

You can present your portfolio utilizing different digital options on a free website. Themes are accessible with website builders such as Wix, Squarespace, and WordPress, and they can be inexpensive or even free. If your work samples are offered in the form of images, you may also share your portfolio on other websites such as Behance, Flickr, or YouPic.

While developing material for your portfolio, it is critical to safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of personal information, financial data, and intellectual property, especially if you have signed any non-disclosure agreements. One option is to conceal or redact names and key information, although this may be unsightly. As an alternative, substitute factual elements with fictitious ones, such as referring to someone as Jane Doe or a firm as Company X, and replace genuine statistics with approximations or made-up values.
