Create The Right Atmosphere For Your Day

Create The Right Atmosphere For Your Day

"This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24 NLT

Some people believe that the activities you do first thing in the morning when you wake up (usually before dawn) can regulate how your day unfolds. Others believe that our reactions to daily experiences will be influenced by the actions of others, directly or indirectly. Both are true. But the former gives you a feeling of control while the latter makes you a victim.

The account of creation in the book of Genesis showed that every time God made something, He saw that it was good. So, we can say that everything He made was good. From the focus scripture, David also says God made the day. This means that we can also say that each day is good.

If each day is good, why do we say, "Oh! I had a bad day" at the end of a workday, for example? Are we indirectly saying that the day God made wasn't good? Most likely not. We say that because instead of deciding at the beginning of the day to rejoice and be glad in the day, we allow the actions of others to influence our perspective of the good day that God made.

Work always has its demands, and a lot of them aren't what we wish for. It's quite easy to be influenced by these demands. Our default setting is to react to actions done to us. On many days, I'd have gone down the tunnel of bitterness and resentment before snapping back in shape after a couple of hours. For some people, this takes days.

But the focus scripture says it doesn't have to be that way. David fought battles, won some of them, and lost valuables in others. He had problems in his home, faced temptations and had every reason to end it all. But here he is declaring that because the Lord made the day, he will wake up, intentionally express his joy and be glad in it.

In other words, it doesn't matter how bad your boss is, how evil your colleague is or how annoying your team is, the day that God made is good, so if you choose to rejoice and be glad in it, then at the end of your day, it is possible to sit on your sofa every day and say, "Oh! I had a good day," and mean it.
