In this article, I explore the ways that a business can foster a POSITIVE workplace culture. I use the acronym POSITIVE as a guide to how it can be achieved.

P-romote behavior standards across the company.

To make sure that the expected behavior standards sink into everyone's consciousness and become a habit, it is important to disseminate these behavioral standards across the entire organization in a consistent and persistent way. Utilize every available occasion to ensure that the desired behaviors remain prominent in the awareness of all staff members. Integrate them seamlessly into all modes of communication.??

O-ffer mentoring sessions to problem employees

For sure there will be some people in your organization who may have difficulty assimilating the standard behaviors right away. Provide mentorship to these employees facing challenges. More often than not, a succession of individualized sessions has the potential to substantially alter an individual's comprehension of their behavior. Extend guidance and highlight the fact that their actions are casting a shadow over their performance and contributions.

S-et the right example by embodying your behavioral standards.

For the leaders in the organization, you need to exemplify leadership through your actions. Ensure that your consistent embodiment of the anticipated behaviors is observable to all. Emerge as a conspicuous model whose conduct others aspire to replicate. Your demonstration sets a noteworthy precedent, underscoring your profound commitment to the organizational culture within your company. In other words, if you are the leader, set the example yourself.

I-nstitutionalize the behaviors you want everybody to assume.

As leaders, it is important that you precisely articulate the desired behaviors for your staff to embody. It would be counter-productive to assume a uniform interpretation of company values among all individuals. Establish a clear definition and provide a comprehensive depiction of how these values manifest within the context of your organization.

T-rain employees to consistently support one another in strengthening desired behaviors

Facilitate the instruction and guidance of employees to fortify the organizational culture. Arrange routine coaching sessions for all personnel, offering constructive feedback and valuable insights. Engage in discussions centered around practical workplace scenarios and the corresponding appropriate behavioral reactions.

I-nitiate rituals that will reinforce and reward observance of right behaviors.

Rituals are important in the attainment of desired corporate cultures. Establish customary practices within your corporate culture to cultivate desired behaviors. By consistently promoting dialogue and contemplation concerning the conduct you aspire to observe, these favored behaviors will progressively evolve into ingrained habits for the majority.

V-et potential hirees using clear metrics that support the company's behavior expectations

Utilize your identified prioritized behaviors as benchmarks for recruiting suitable personnel. Extend beyond conventional considerations of qualifications, skills, or even charismatic attributes. Ensure the selection of individuals whose perspectives align with the intended cultural cultivation.

E-stablish clear accountability from your employees related to adhering to desired behaviors.

Lastly, strengthen your organizational culture through the implementation of accountability measures. Construct a structured framework to enforce accountability, encompassing not only performance outcomes but also behavioral aspects.

These measures will help your organization develop a positive workplace culture that will lead your people to open themselves to imbibing a culture of growth. This will then lead to the attainment of an important Davidic Growth Target, that of a Heightening Culture.
