Create a Positive Feeling Tree: Yes Really!

Here's the idea. Find a wee tree or buy a wee tree. Mine was a gift from a colleague. It works for all seasons. Then, create a jar of positive feelings (I got mine as a gift) and it is a small glass jar filled with colorful pieces of paper, each of which has a positive saying on it.

Then, each day, hang a positive feeling on the tree and if there are several people in the household, hang several feelings. And, then, keep filling the tree. For every negative feeling, we want (as data supports this), three positive feelings.

The nice thing is that the tree I have lights up -- what better idea than igniting positive ideas. Try this idea. It should be joy and it should also allow the brain to focus on the positives -- at least some of the time.

Share your variations. Share your trees. Share your sayings. We are living in hard times. Help can come in small ways.

And be safe and stay well. And, try to stay positive. And, name your feelings because if you can name them, you can tame them.

love this, Karen! just posted myself on “Pandemic Guilt,” ie how hard it can be to even admit what’s positive while so many suffering. Good to know it’s a thing— and that we can overcome it! love that tree. ?? https://madelaineweiss.com/pandemic-guilt-what-it-is-and-what-to-do-about-it/
