This week, I found myself in the midst of a new transition—choosing colors and wallpaper for my new office. With my daughter entering a new stage in her life, there’s more room at home, and instead of holding onto feelings of being a “half-empty nester, “I’m excited to create something new.

As I dove into selecting the perfect colors, I realized how much joy and energy the process gave me. The whimsical names like "Pink with Peach Blossom" and "Sage with Cherry" only enhanced my vision and made me even more enthusiastic about what will come.

And here’s where it connects to career and leadership: every end is an opportunity for a new beginning. The process of envisioning what’s next, whether it’s a new office or a new role, is exciting. It’s not just about the result but how we feel during the creation. In both life and work, starting with the end in mind and allowing curiosity to guide you is essential for growth.

Being optimistic about the future is the fuel that drives success. When you can see what’s possible, the momentum begins to build. So, whether you're navigating personal transitions or career shifts, stay open, be curious, and let your vision energize you.

I chose a gray/green and rose with peach blossom, matching the wallpaper ... this makes me really happy.

?? My latest learning: How You Start Your Day Shapes Your Success

As the school year begins and we return to our work routines after summer vacations, it’s natural to feel unsettled. It takes time to refind the rhythm at home and in the office. Starting the day right is key for me—knowing if the “mom taxi” is needed, reminding my daughter of the school lunch box, or simply talking about what’s ahead. The most important part? A shared family dinner to create space for authentic connection.

The same applies at work. Checking in with colleagues, understanding where they are, and hearing about their lives outside of work are essential to resetting after the break. We all face similar challenges—tasks piling up, new teachers or projects, and the temptation to get swept up in gossip or negativity.

But here’s what I’ve learned: Don’t overload your schedule. Carve out small “islands” of calm to remind you of the holidays and focus on the present. Avoid negative people and environments, and remember—gossip is just that: gossip.

As we all get back into the swing of things, let’s embrace these transitions with an open mind, calm energy, and a commitment to staying positive.

“Did you know that how you start your day can determine the flow of your entire day?”

We've all experienced it: If you start your day with bad news, a stressful rush, or even a minor argument, that negative energy seems to follow you for the rest of the day. But why does this happen?

The first 15-20 minutes of your morning set the tone. If you’re immediately in “reactive mode”—responding to the world instead of setting your own pace—you’ll likely feel overwhelmed and not in control. And in times of uncertainty, like we’re living in now, that feeling of helplessness can easily creep in.

That’s why I’m a big fan of having a structured and intentional start to the day. I make sure I know what appointments are coming up, both professional and personal, and I check whether I've prepared adequately. I also review whether I've built in enough breaks (though I’ll admit, that part doesn’t always go as planned!).

Most importantly, I take time for reflection, using my 6-minute journal to set a positive tone for the day.

?? Career Inspiration: Where Do You See Yourself in 10 Years?

“What will your life look like in 10 years? How do you feel about the path you’re on right now?”

Most of my clients are uncomfortable when I ask them this question. In a constantly changing world, it feels impossible to predict what we’ll want or where we’ll be in a decade. But then I flip the question: Can you imagine living the exact same life in 10 years as you do today?

More often than not, the answer is a resounding no.

So, what needs to change? And more importantly, when do you want to start making those changes—now or in 9 years and 364 days?

This isn’t about having a perfectly clear vision of your future. It’s about gaining perspective on your life's direction and understanding the decisions you need to make today to guide it toward the life you truly want.
