Once upon a time, I associated some of my self-esteem with having a lot of apps on my phone’s home screen. I filled it with icons of really important apps with notifications turned on so I didn’t miss a single thing.

Trying to get work done with all those apps screaming for my attention was like trying to write this book with my toddler granddaughter in the room.

So I hid them. Took them off my home screens. I now have only one home screen with just a few apps. Notifications are off. This way, I can see my favorite picture of my granddaughter and me. We’re laughing at our kitchen table.
