All teams have that one individual who absolutely crushes it.
Maybe they’re the first to tackle a complex problem or are willing to go beyond their job description for the good of the team.
You might count on them to bring solutions forward when the rest of your employees fall behind, but what you’re doing is creating an imbalance within your team’s dynamic.
Relying too much on one individual (while letting the rest of the team know it) automatically positions this person to hold more weight than the others.
You risk the entire team’s performance by relying on the strength of only one team member.
Instead, identify opportunities to lift the other team members.
Find out what’s keeping the others from performing at a higher level and address these needs directly.
Once this is done, you can start shifting responsibilities and projects to create a more balanced team and environment.
