The CRE Deal Room? with Adam Dunn Episode 1: Controlling the Controllables

In this inaugural episode of The CRE Deal Room? with Adam Dunn, I sit down with Matthew E. Drane as we discuss a variety of topics, including how he got started in commercial real estate, what drives him to continue pursuing this career, and how he helps new CRE Advisors get their careers started on the right foot.

Matt is the National VP of Training and Development at? Greysteel , a middle market-focused real estate investment banking firm serving private and institutional investors. Greysteel has 13 offices, and Matt helps their professionals and advisors learn the business, from the basic fundamentals of investment sales, brokerage, capital markets, and structured finance, up to helping people build teams and lead large organizations that serve their clients nationwide.

I sat down with Matt to talk about his personal and professional journey toward success in the real estate industry in this podcast episode.

During the course of the interview, we discuss a wide variety of topics, some of which include the significance of having the right frame of mind, the value of building relationships, and the advantages of being willing to learn from mistakes.

Matt's open and honest sharing of his experiences and observations gives the audience the chance to learn and benefit from a wide range of life-changing lessons.

Whether you are a seasoned expert or just getting started in the field, I have high hopes that I will be able to offer you insightful guidance and motivation that will assist you in achieving success in real estate.

Key Highlights Include:

  • Learn the lingo - Immerse yourself in the industry, and its jargon, and really get to know the product.
  • Build relationships - Take the time to build a network of contacts and maintain those relationships. Stay in touch with industry professionals, clients, and colleagues.
  • Be consistent - Show up, be reliable, and build a reputation for being a professional that can be trusted.
