This month, we share our commitment to preventing food insecurity in our community, which affects 1 in 4 San Diegans. With World Hunger Day on May 28, we invite you to take action with us! Read about some recent ways we're nourishing our community and learn how you can get involved below.
Hunger Relief Highlights
Stamp Out Hunger delivered over 15,000 pounds of food to CRC!
A big thank you to everyone who donated, the 60 volunteers who sorted food at the Encinitas and Solana Beach post offices, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and the San Diego Food Bank for their incredible support!
Healthy Day Partners rescues local produce and delivers to CRC.
Healthy Day Partners delivers fresh produce to CRC from their Homegrown Hunger Relief stations. Their new 13 raised garden beds will grow food for households in need. Find out how you can help, from donating produce to volunteering in the garden!

Uniting Against Hunger: A Call to Action from our CEO
Our CEO, John Van Cleef, shares more about the reality of food insecurity in our region and how you can help. Together, we can ensure that everyone in our communities has access to nutritious food and the support they need to thrive and create a brighter future.
Give today to provide food for households in need
Last year, we served 1,924 households through our Food & Nutrition Center – 43% more individuals than 2022. Your donation can help meet the growing need, from fueling our rescue trucks to providing nutritious food for those experiencing food insecurity.
Please share! New Saturday Produce Distribution
Beginning June 8, households in need can pick up fresh produce and a few pantry items on the second Saturday of each month. The new program offers a convenient option for those unable to attend our weekday programs. Pre-registration is required.

Households who live, study or work in the cities of Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, Oceanside, San Marcos, Solana Beach and Vista are invited to participate in our 2024 North San Diego Community Assessment Survey. Celebrating 45 Years of Service
It was a joy to celebrate CRC volunteers at our recent Volunteer Appreciation event, held this year at Pannikin. The theme was “Serving Our Neighbors Since 1979” and during the event, our CEO shared: “For 45 years, volunteers have prioritized service led by compassion. They have provided support to our staff and to our clients and to our mission unwaveringly.”?
Capital Campaign
Supporter Spotlight: Maddie and James Altschuler
Maddie Altschuler, a dedicated CRC Board member and Capital Campaign leader, together with her late husband James, made a transformative gift envisioning a better future for our community. Maddie shared: "We took great comfort in knowing that our neighbors in need will have CRC in the community for many more decades to come thanks to the new building." Meet & Greet with Supervisor Lawson-Remer: Thoughtful Discussion and a "CRC Day" Proclamation!
At a special Meet & Greet event with Supervisor Lawson-Remer, guests discussed critical community topics and CRC was honored with a proclamation. The recognition declared April 24, 2024, as "Community Resource Center Day" in San Diego County. This honor celebrates CRC's dedication since 1979 to providing essential support and shelter. Thank you to Supervisor Lawson-Remer and all our supporters for their commitment to our mission.

Domestic Violence Advocate Training
Thursdays: June 13, 20, 27 and July 11 & 18, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. at One Safe Place, San Marcos
Join our 40-hour workshop led by Luis Canseco Garcia, CRC’s Domestic Violence Education and Prevention Program Manager, to learn about the dynamics, dangers, and effects of intimate partner violence, and how to support and empower survivors in their healing journey.
