A Crazy World Breeds Crazy Thoughts

Among all those I know, there are few I can call friend

I don't speak of any special women as for me there are none

The final fate of being elderly is to be lonely at the end

But I can't fathom why Hemingway went and grabbed a gun

I know the planet isn't doomed, just the human race

Especially when those in power preach their denial

And its unlikely we will survive by going into space

Still, I don't hold that the majority of men are truly vile

I see first hand how the world has fallen to the thugs

From world leaders right down to the common hood

Being a bully is not exclusive to criminals and drugs

So, why do I think most people at heart are truly good?

I feel that in reviewing it and with the evidence so clear

Logic dictates my view of humanity's soul is very wrong

But its my gut feeling that all those values come from fear

Its what happens to souls that are never taught to be strong

I will hold to my beliefs, the logic I will continue to dispute

Despite both people in fear and that logic growing more ample

For to survive we must change and this I dare you to refute

The only way to bring about such change is to lead by example
