Never mess with a crazy redhead who can change the world.
I was recently listening to an interview between Victoria Beale, founder of BLG, and Jeff Vanderpol, link included below. They were discussing Jeff’s new venture, StardomChance.com. StardomChance offers an expanded playing field for people in front of and behind the camera to have their dreams become a reality. This is a platform for actors, directors, composers, scriptwriters, and others who support the production of the arts, regardless of all the “labels” people are quick to assign, to assess and determine your worthiness to participate. Hollywood has proven itself to be lacking in character (understatement) and tends to be a closed (think entropy) system. It is almost like they have to pledge fealty to some giant boss (think Weinstein) or bosses to have a chance. Jeff’s system has a way to create a greater path to good. With the plethora of influencers and thought leaders, The Great Awakening is just beginning. What an opportunity to produce thought-provoking and pattern-interrupts to a world stuck in their trance of current programming. Imagine the possibilities!

The List:
Now, what does the crazy redhead, Lucille Ball, have to do with this post?
Jeff mentioned Lucille Ball and Desilu Studios during his conversation with Victoria, which reminded me of the great history and its current impact on our current world. I jumped down the rabbit hole and did five minutes of research. Here is just the top ten off the list I pulled from the internet, either filmed or produced by Desilu. (see this link for the complete list - https://www.liquisearch.com/desilu_productions/television_shows_produced_or_filmed_by_desilu).

Take a moment to reflect on how these shows have influenced your life, especially if you are a Boomer, Gen X, Millennial, or Gen Z, who would have seen some of these original shows or in perpetual reruns. How many people were blessed to have taken part in these shows? What was the ROI on their time and investment over the years? Some of these juggernauts are still in play 40-50 years later!
My Memories:
For me, the standard of comedy was I Love Lucy. Star Trek continues to this day with perpetual spinoffs. (Don’t even get me started TOS vs TNG!) The Andy Griffith show taught kindness, politeness, and moral lessons. Mission Impossible was probably responsible for my career path, and I love the continuation of the movies over the years. The Dick Van Dyke Show was one of my favorite after-school programs on the independent channel here in KC. I enjoyed the slapstick and physical comedy and learned timing was important. Family Affair showed how families (blended and stirred) could overcome any obstacle. Make Room for Daddy showcased Danny Thomas and his love for family, even while managing the chaos of show business. The Untouchables, like Mission Impossible, encouraged me to solve complex issues and use critical thinking skills to guess the plot twists. And, I Spy, along the same genre, with a modern twist.
(Honorable Mentions to The Jack Benny Show, Gomer Pyle, USMC, and Hogan’s Heroes)
