Crash, Reboot & Reprioritize - Part 2

The Crash

At the hospital, they took all the necessary COVID-19 precautions and admitted me immediately. After an eternity of tests and bloodwork, my medical team informed me that I suffered a Bell’s Palsy attack. Bell's Palsy is the inability to move the facial muscles on one side of the face (facial paralysis), change in taste, and pain around the affected ear. I was admitted and remained in the hospital for 4 days. Since that time I have been steadily recuperating from the damage caused by the Bell’s Palsy attack.?

The Reboot

At first, the progress was steady and fast. However, after recuperating about 90%, I've been told that the last 10% could take as long as 5 years to completely heal. The cause of Bell's Palsy is unknown. However, I was told by my medical team that stress has a lot to do with it. Knowing that stress may have been a contributing factor to my Bell’s Palsy attack, I made the decision to identify and eliminate anything in my life that I thought was stressing me out.

With all of the online COVID-19 disagreements, fake news, political arguments, etc., I made the decision to unplug from all of my social media channels. I have gone dark on social media for 14 months. What I found out as a result of my social media fast is that as the volume of social media chatter got turned off, my creativity, productivity, joy, and peace increased. What a tradeoff!

What a great reminder that stress affects our bodies in so many different ways, and so we need to slow down our bodies before it slows us down. Thank you for sharing
