Craic-ing the Week 26/08/24

Craic-ing the Week 26/08/24

W/C 26th August

I’m starting this update a bit later than planned, but as they say, Don't Look Back in Anger!

I’ve decided to put together this blog to capture my thoughts as I transition from one role to another, reflecting on the journey and insights along the way. I'm writing it for me, but thought why not put myself out there and share it!

?

The week began with a bank holiday Monday, which I used to dread for cramming five days of work into four. Now, with my notice handed in, I’m focusing on wrapping up projects, tying up loose ends, and preparing for a smooth handover.

?

The week’s routine included my regular work planning meeting with the Infrastructure team. With the new hospital opening soon, I needed to be specific about tasks and resource allocation. The team’s response was positive and should help ensure better oversight.

?

I also attended the Change Advisory Board, crucial for managing changes. We also had a minor disruption this week, but we follow a tried-and-tested approach to resolve issues and then address them in Problem Management to prevent recurrence.

?

Other highlights included the MMUH Commissioning Group meeting, where preparations for the new hospital are on track. Adjustments to the telephony modernisation project have led to smoother progress after a change in project management.

?

On Friday, I met with what will be my new Senior Team. My initial interactions, while not entirely expected, reveal significant potential. Transitioning roles involves navigating both interpersonal dynamics and technical challenges. I’m looking forward to addressing these new challenges and will share more as things progress.

The weekend was great - somehow landed Oasis tickets! I didn't suffer at the hands of "dynamic pricing" but they were still bloomin' expensive!

Onward!
